19 further nearby communities have been flooded.
On Thursday, floodwaters reached 19 more villages near the Sutlej River in Lahore. On Wednesday, floodwaters already reached 40 villages close to Chenab.
According to Lahore Division Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, four villages in Chirag and 19 villages close to the River Sutlej were all affected by the flooding on Thursday.
A total of 18,000 people lived in these communities; 11,000 of them had to be relocated to safer areas. He emphasized that the district administration had constructed 11 relief camps with capacities of 5,000 and 3,000 people, and that the afflicted population had been evacuated to these locations.
According to the commissioner, Talwar's River Sutlej floodwaters have receded by one foot over the last 24 hours. The water level has also dropped by 10,000 cusecs from the preceding 0.114 million cusecs at Ganda Singhwala.
The Lahore division commissioner, Provincial Disaster Director General Imran Qureshi, Sheikhupura Range RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa, and Emergency Rescue 1122 Secretary Dr Rizwan Khan visited post-flood relief camps on Thursday to assess the continuing rescue effort.
They visited with the affected residents and the workers assigned to carry out relief efforts while also inspecting the flood conditions in various locations. They also looked over the aid efforts.
On this day, Rangers officers included Assistant Commissioner Rizwanul Haq Puri, DPO Tariq Aziz Sindhu, Additional Commissioner Lahore Abdul Salam Arif, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Jafar Chaudhry, and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Arshad Bhatti.
The camps for flood relief and resettlement were examined by the commissioner. Additionally, he spoke with residents who had been affected by the flooding, went to numerous locations to assess the situation, and examined the amenities in the camps that different departments had set up.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa and PDMA DG Imran Qureshi told the media that a rescue operation was in progress to deal with the Sutlej River flood issue.
According to the commissioner, no drowning-related casualties have been reported to date because timely rescue and relief efforts were made.
